Tumblr Nurse and Nursing Student

Riley - Live for the Stoke -Tracing the Contours of a Wave

One important part of being a nurse or student nurse is simply to stay sane. You can’t study or think about nursing nonstop. Your mindbody won’t let you. It’s important to just escape and zone out sometimes.

As previously posted, often our minds will automatically wander anyway.

There are many ways we all escape nowadays: movies, YouTube, web surfing, outdoor activites, video games, exercise, art, hanging out with friends and family, drinking, Facebook, etc. One great place to really get away is at Tumblr. You’ll want to start at Tumblr’s directory and just start exploring subjects that you like. Tumblr revolves around the tumblelog:

A tumblelog is a variation of a blog that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging. Common post formats found on tumblelogs include links, photos, quotes, dialogues, and video. Unlike blogs, tumblelogs are frequently used to share the author’s creations, discoveries, or experiences while providing little or no commentary.

Tumblr is all about ease of use, simplicity, and the proliferation of quality content.

Here are some great examples:

Tumblr’s content is immediate and vividly alive. Unlike Facebook, it’s an open community by design. Although it’s not a requirement, I highly recommend you create a Tumblr account/blog. It only takes 30 seconds to sign up. A Tumblr account/blog is like Twitter on steroids. It allows you to have your own personal Tumblr scrapbook blog by easily “reblogging” stuff you like with one-click simplicity. You’ll also get a Tumblr Dashboard, a unified place to experience all your favorite Tumblr content from your computer or smartphone.

For truly the best immersive experience at Tumblr, I highly recommend Safari 4 for Windows and Mac users, or Firefox at the very least. You’ll get a better visual experience with the best web rendering of the Tumblr blog’s layout, design, and especially, the typography—the details that make Tumblr what it is.

Best of all, there are numerous Tumblr third-party apps for iPhones, iPod touches, and other smartphones.

Update

Tumblr’s directory and Tumblarity isn’t all that great. First find a Tumblr blog you really like, then find more Tumblr blogs by clicking on reblog or blogroll links.

For the iPhone, the Tumblr app and tumblr gear app are both free and work really well, although you’ll get the best results with the iPhone 3GS due to much faster image loading.
